J-Fall: a NLJUG conference

Zero Exceptions

All-inclusive, zero exceptions at J-Fall

We all contribute to making J-Fall a respectful, safe, and welcoming conference for everyone. To enhance that inclusive spirit, we’ve added a few helpful touches:

  • Preferred forms of address– Indicate how you’d like to be addressed on your name sticker, and respect everyone’s choice
  • Quiet room – A sensory-friendly space to help calm an overstimulated mind. Please respect the quiet spirit there.

More NLJUG actions to promote diversity & inclusion

As NLJUG board and organization, we’ve taken several more actions to enhance D&I at our conferences.

  1. D&I Panel – We consulted community representatives for ideas and opportunities for inclusivity.
  2. Speaker Diversity – Attention to diversity included in the CFP and program committee processes.
  3. Preferred Forms of Address – Available on name stickers and in the slide template.
  4. Quiet Room – A calm, low-stimulation space to recharge.
  5. Support Availability – Guidance and assistance available for anyone who needs it.
  6. D&I Mentors – Accessible via the Mentorship Hub to support attendees.
  7. Masters of Java Award Enhancement – New awards to attract and encourage a more diverse audience.
  8. Crew Training – Additional training for staff to respond appropriately to support requests.
